Denis was the driving force behind the creation of the Acle Indoor Club and his vision was to make the club the model for all other clubs to aspire to.
The Club Youth Policy allied with the Pathway to Excellence are the envy of many and one of his proudest moments was when the Club Under 25 Team won their first National Title, since then the club has gone from strength to strength, collecting 39 county and 4 national titles.
‘My aim is to destroy the image of bowls as an old mans sport and to show a sport that is dominated by young sportsmen and women, but is also a sport that old men can still play.
This is why we are introducing 72 children every year to this great game so that eventually we will be faced with a major problem of how we can accommodate all these young people in our present league system’ he said,’ this is my dream and with the great team I have around me, we will succeed’, he added.
In his spare time he plays bowls for the Acle ‘A’ team.
