Boost for Acle Youth

Acle Indoor Bowls Club Juniors had some unexpected guests at their Friday training session when John Whitelock, Managing Director & Trevor Conway, Chairman  of Crocus Homes, presented them with a cheque for £900.

Denis Goodley, Manager of the Club, who received the cheque explained that the money is to be used to invite some of the country’s top coaches down to the club to assist club coaches and guide our prospective future stars on the EIBA Youth Development Pathway.

Seen in the photo receiving trophies are Faith  Hammond and Ryan Garman who were winner and r/up in the recent county U16s Competition.

Acle Young Stars

On Friday 12th Jan,  three times World Champion, England Captain and England  under 25 Manager  Andy Thomson joined Acle youngsters  for a coaching session at the Indoor Club. Pictured with him  are Coach Sid Siely  with Tia Lindford, Ryan Garman  and Faith Hammond  who will  be playing on the World Bowls  Final  Carpet in the Junior Championship Final at 9.00 am on the Sun 28th Jan the day  of the World Singles final .   Discussion on delivery, stance  and attitude to fellow players  was  made and importantly diet was impressed on the youngsters. Supporters are reminded of the road works in Gorleston  that will create a delay to their journey.

Acle Young Stars

Playing on the World  Bowls Blue Carpet  at Potters  in the Final of the Junior Triples , 11 year old  Lia Linford, Faith Hammond  and  Ryan  Garman both 15 years old it was  an experience  of a lifetime  and up against three  more experienced players from the Riverain club in Hertfordshire was  a nerve racking experience. In  Front  of  a Crowd of over 200 some wonderful drawing bowls especially from both Skips the applause was well deserved. The Acle Trio  as expected  were great  ambassadors to their club and  game and at the presentation Greg Harlow congratulated both teams on their performance .Riverain won 10-2.
