Fun Night – reminder that Tim is organising a ‘fun night’ of bowls at the club this Monday Night the 10th -just turn up and register with Tim for a 6-30pm start.
Commonwealth Games – Acle had a connection with the Games in that the Falkland Islands bowler practised at Acle the other year.
Canadians – our Canadian friends hope to qualify again for Potters this coming January as they enter their qualifying rounds in Canada over the next few weeks.
Members - we are certainly a truly global club and even have members from Suffolk !!!!!!!!
Roll ups – just a reminder that the club is Open on Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings for roll-ups -no booking possible so just turn up., and of course on any day when we used to have summer leagues playing ,as these are actually now available to book for roll ups.

Norfolk County O 60s Mens team – will now play their matches at Acle -1st game is on Tuesday 15th December at 10-00am against the old enemy Suffolk. Clive Wright -yes our Clive Wright is the new captain and he drinks Fosters !!!!!!.

Sunday Sept 20th from 2-15pm -the first meeting of the Norfolk Junior Academy will be hosted by Acle.

Sunday 27th September – The Simon Ollie Tournament will take place -book your team in with Barney or KSG. All proceeds to Nelson’s Journey Charity and any raffles prizes would be appreciated.

Macmillan Nurses -rather than clash with the Simon Ollie Charity we will hold our annual Macmillan Nurse Raffle in October and again raffle prizes -clearly marked -Macmillan - can be left in the office.

Road Closure – roadworks ( there’s a surprise) start again on South Walsham Road/Bridewell Lane, in Acle ,from 10th to 21st Aug. A notice about dates and which parts affected is on the main Board in the club. You will be able to gain access to the club ,as they need to keep it clear for the Drs and Swallowtail ,but there will be delays.

Busy Coaches – following the success of last season ,Wensum Academy will be bringing a group of students to the club on Weds 8thJuly from 1 till 3 -let’s hope we can spot a future International.

Insurance -another success story ,this time a saving of £100 on caravan insurance ,but remember our club deal is only with Howson’s of Southend on Sea – plus ,when asking for a price quote ‘Acle Bowls’ . and if you make a good saving,remember Denis drinks Fosters nowadays.

Politeness – would members please remember that it is polite to walk down the centre of the rinks when changing ends., and not toengage in long conversations while doing so. We often hear the cry when reminded of this ungentlemanlypractise –“ I am walking in my rink.” -Of course you are , but do you need to be such an arse about it.

New Harriers Shirts goes International

The new Acle Harrier shirt made its North American debut yesterday at the OBA Singles tournament in Burlington Ontario.

This is the longest running bowls tournament in North American dating back to the mid 1880's.

This is a popular warm up tournament for the provincial singles championship that will be coming up in a few weeks.Erik had a great day and just fell a bit short in the final. Finishing up in second place. Here is a pic of shirt...looks awesome.

1 Award – it was a great pleasure for our Manager, Denis, to present the annual ‘Service Award’ to Chris Peacher on Tuesday at the Drive.
‘Chris has been a great servant to the club and happy to put his hand to any task we ask of him. He has already received the ‘Order of the Brussell Sprout ‘awarded to the top performing Steward at the annual Christmas Dinner so it was no surprise that the Bowls Committee unanimously chose Chris as this year’s recipient of our most important Award, said Denis
Denis did say a number of other things about Chris but thought it better not to put it to print - D

Winter leagues – all ready for collection except the Thurs Mixed Pairs 1st Div.
Coaching – We have just 5 spaces left for the 19th Sept Beginners Course from 10-00am and 2 Vacancies for the Advanced Course starting Sunday 20th September at 10-00am . The next advanced course in November is already full but the Beginners Course from 31st October has vacancies.
Mens A team – your new kit is ready for collection. I would like to see all players collect their kit in the next 2 weeks ,in case we need to make changes -no doubt to the waist.( tho’ diet sheets are an alternative) The club is open most mornings ,including weekends, and Monday , Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Make a note of any kit changes and put on my desk in the Office so we can order in time for new season.
