Comps and casual Play
As previously explained in a Newsletter we are now approaching Comps ’play by’ dates time, so be aware that a lot of your casual bookings may have to be cancelled and re-arranged for later dates, when comps start to ease off.
Competitors -Simon is happy to open up on Sundays for Competitions and of course the spare rinks will then be available for casual play.
Early rounds are always hectic but at moment we are still closed for Christmas.

Weekend – Good win for men in Denny Plate and the ladies in Yetton, especially away from home rinks. Wake up call for Ladies B with an 8-0 defeat to their colleagues in the C team which is great by showing the strength in depth in the ladies section at the moment. Not so good in the Egham but best we concentrate in winning a few trophies rather than a cabinet full as far too many to keep clean.
Visitors – also happy to welcome your friends to the club and introduce them to indoor bowls but please declare they are ‘guests ‘to the Stewards ,so they know how much to charge ( £5),and of course make your guests are aware of our dress code.
Compliment -talking of visitors ,the Chairman was welled pleased to receive a complimentary letter from visitors to the club when playing here in a national competition recently, who commented on how welcoming everyone was . Not often visitors take the effort to compliment us in writing.
Comps – all club comps now closed and we look forward to seeing the result of the ‘handicaps ‘ . Barney has a pretty good record so far with finals finishing at 21-20.

Canadians – Denis has been working on his welcome speech to our Canadian friends and instead of the usual,’ let’s go to the bar, by the way, its your round,’ he thought perhaps with their French Canadian roots he would practise his Gallic 3 kiss on cheeks technique so he did some practise at the local building site -we are pleased to report he should be discharged from Paget next week.
Christmas raffle – we have started collecting items to put into a Christmas Hamper to raise a few pennies for Faith Animal Rescue. Just drop the items in the box -I am sure some good person can make them up into a Hamper style gift.
Membership -I do hope you have all paid your membership -if you have not prepared for a call from ‘she who must be obeyed’ –
Bugs – I see Acle was once again ahead of the rest by providing the hand sanitisers -Government have just issued a warning to get your flu jabs asap.
Re-branding -great to see our O60s men sporting their new gear -sorry about the photo’s we did ask those wearing shorts to stand at the back as we did not want to frighten the grandchildren.
