Hamper – still one hamper prize to be claimed – have you raffle ticket Number 479 -plus ticket No 377 has also won a prize.

Salvation Armey – we raised £160-00 for the local Salvation Army from the above raffle.

Domestic League Rules – are on display on the competition noticeboard.

Ambassador Cruises -who are Partners of our national governing body (EIBA) have an advert on our noticeboard.

AJM Choice-also partners of the EIBA have an advert on the noticeboard for 10% discounted disability aids.

Men’s County Association -anyone wishing to serve the County Association should check on the noticeboard as there are a number of vacancies.

New Chef – we have received some good reports on the quality, quantity and pricing of the new meals on offer in the Social Club. Just present your card for 10% discount . ( appreciate some still have no card but just say you are a bowler until they produce them for us)

Easter Tournament -we are looking at an Easter Open Triples Tournament on Good Friday -look out for adverts and entry forms.

Federation -just to clarify when entering the County Federation Comps -you do so as an outdoor club entrant -so you play in your outdoor club’s kit -but if a combined entry from more than one club you play in white tops. Of course, when you win the County Title you then go on to the National Championships and play in the Norfolk County Tops.
Summer League entries – close on 1stMarch
2026 Winter league entries will be on display after 1stMarch and will close mid April.
Sunday League experiment for 2026 winter season – we will trial a sets league on Sunday evenings, played every 3 weeks, based on the World Bowls format -watch the main board for entry forms.
Club Domestic League Rules – to clarify a few misconceptions members have about our domestic leagues a set of rules will be posted soon – but as a foretaste. you are not allowed to visit the head at any time.
Norfolk County Ladies League 2026/27 - it has been confirmed by the County that Acle Ladies A will be known as the ‘Acle Harriers’, Acle B will be ‘Acle Kites’ and Acle C will be ‘Acle Swifts.’
Bowlr -we are still trying to sort the problem of advanced bookings with the designers of the system. Denis, with all his experience of IT, has offered to help, and fortunately for all of us, this has been declined.
Club Finals – Men’s Triples Final will be at 6-45pm on Friday 27thMarch and the Pairs and Fours will be at 6-30on Sunday 29thwith the Singles at 2-30 in the afternoon.

Vouchers – we have a new supply of £100 off holidayvouchers at Potters, either Hopton or 5 Lakes. These are for those who have never been before. They are on display on the entrance noticeboard -help yourselves.
Hampers – we do the draw for the 5 prizes including 2 fantastic hampers on Friday 13thFeb . Get buying and leave the money in the box clearly marked ‘Salvation Army,’ under the large cheque on the wall.
Summer league – entry forms now on display
Webcams – no your visit to Specsavers has not improved your vision that much, but the webcams are all now a lot clearer thanks to Denis’sapprentice, Bill, working his magic.

Water Bottles – we have quite a collection of water bottles left in the club. Have a look in the box on the table if you have lost one.
Federation County Finals -Congratulations to Jenny winning the Ladies Singles, Leo the U25s and Ryan, Graham and David winning the Mens Triples -now off to Lincolnfor the National Finals.
Coffee Machine –a very swish new one now in place and coffee beans doing a grand job -70p a cup.

Congratulations – To Lynne, Sandra, Barbara and Jenny on their victory in the fours over Gallow in the Area Final at NBC. The girls are now off to the National Championships in Nottingham at the end of March -good luck ladies bring back some silverware to Acle.

Federation – and one we missed, congrats to Jenny R who with her son Rambo and fellow clubmate Ian won the Norfolk Federation Triples and are also off to the National Finals this time to Lincoln. ( back on the Christmas card list -Jenny)

Coffee– new machine serving some tasty coffee via beans, hence slight delay in delivery due to the guy in the back crushing the beans. We will request a return of Bovril for the hate it/love it mob.

Date -a date for your diary the club finals will be on Sunday 29th March in the afternoon and evening.

Sponsor – we still have no car dealership as a sponsor of the club – come on good people, now is the time of year when you are changing vehicles, do not sign up to purchase, until the dealer signs a Partnership with the club. Denis will do the rest.

Stitching -we have ordered the repair of the stitching to the carpet.

Area Finals – We have 7 individuals or teams reached the Area Finals of Competitions. The Ladies Fours have already won theirs so good luck to the rest. Let’s see lots of the Marsh Harrier shirts at the National Finals.

Pennant 2 –another County Men’s Pennant is on the way to Acle as once again we have both finalists, this time it is Ryan and Tim to face each other in the Match play Singles.
2026/27 Winter League – league entry forms are now out for members, all leagues, as usual with the exception of a proposed Sunday Evening Pairs Set Play League (only played every 3 weeks). Dependent on support of course.
Planning ahead – dates are already being booked for the 2026/27 County Competitions play-offs.
Good Friday–The Club Tournament is fully booked and Tim is preparing the draw. Barbara and Simon will re-schedule any matches already booked on that day so check the post.
Rinks available – from Tuesday 6th April a few leagues will have been completed so lots of spare rinks available.
Club Finals – are also taking shape and a full program will soon be ready so you can book your seats for some great entertainment. Congrats again to Barney for all his hard work.
Summer National Comps – anyone interested in entering these, see noticeboard - but be warned may involve a lot of travelling as not too many local entries.
Bugs - There is a flu-like bug doing the rounds at the moment so we will put the fans on all day, keep the hand gel available and suggest to members not to shake hands. A “good luck” or “well bowled.”should be adequate for the time being.

Summer league – entries now closed
Winter league 2026/27 – Forms will be out soon.
At it again – Lynne, Barbara and Jenny stormed into the O50s National Triples Championships -best you book an apartment in Nottingham girls .
Hamper – at last second hamper now been claimed. We have also received a letter of thanks from the Salvation Army for our donation. Well done everyone.
Cheese and Wine – Mike’s farewell to Jane last Friday raised xxx for Al xxx-Thanks everyone for support.
Potters – good luck to our gang who are going to Potters for a weeks bowling with the occasional drinks party from 9th to 12th March. If you would like to join them next year see Simon.
PA system – we are upgrading our PA system so if there are any clubs or village hall Committee ,who have a strong man on their Committee ,you are welcome to our old system and gigantic speakers -see Simon.
Congrats to Charlie( sub for Brian), Dave, Roger and Rocky on winning the Regional Final of the O60s Fours and qualifying for the national Championships at Nottingham.
Committee -send their congratulations to all our club members who have qualified for the National Finals at Nottingham or Lincoln and keeping the club in the headlights.
Great results in County U25s quarter finals with 5 Acle players involved, at Diss, unfortunately Bradley had to play Leo, with Leo just coming out on top, followed by Ryan beating home club player , Liam Jolly, then Mathew beating England Junior International, Nicole Mosely, and finally Harry beating another England Junior International, Ellie Johnson.
Which of course means an all Acle semi-final hopefully to be played at Acle on Tuesday 24th March at 6-30pm and of course guarantees another County Pennant for the club.
With their recent victory over Beccles in the U30s match, the future of the club looks to be in safe hands -Well done coaches.
Better not forget the Over 25s with Jenny securing her third Regional Title in the singles and another trip to the National Championships in Nottingham-best you book an apartment Mr Kirby. ( and great to have you back in circulation after your visit to Papworth).
Denis struggles counting anything over 10 ,so perhaps someone could let him know just how many members have qualified for the National Championships at Lincoln and Nottingham -could be another record.
